Penn State's Game-By-Game Results This file started with a text database grabbed from an official PSU website prior to the 1999 season. Starting with the 1999 season, statistics maintained by Reed Meyer, http://reed.gigacorp.net (also all {x/y} for all years). {xx/yy} : xx: that team's *FINAL* AP poll ranking (or yy: UP/UPI/USA Today) Started to do score, date, opponent corroborations with http://cfbdatawarehouse.com. These are complete through 1914 season. are possible discrepancies with cfbdatawarehouse I need to check up on. Still need to check [xx] values (AP ranking at time of game) prior to 1999. Starting in 2003 season, added yy = Coaches Poll to [] values (format [xx/yy]). 1881 - http://cfbdatawarehouse.com lists a 9-0 win over Bucknell in 1881. This is not part of Penn State's official list of games. According to a PSU news release, 2004 Nov. 23: "In 1881, 13 Penn State students traveled to Bucknell University for an informal game of football. The game was played by rules that were more similar to rugby than modern day football. The Penn State team won that game, 9-0. Six years later, on Nov. 12, 1887, the team set out once again to Lewisburg, where it won, 54-0. This game -- which was played under more modern rules -- has come to be regarded as Penn State's first intercollegiate football contest." 1887 - Won 2, Lost 0 Coach: None Nov. 5 at Bucknell W 54-0 Nov. 19 Bucknell W 24-0 1888 -
